The Weekend.
I am going with a new format this time around. Whilst you can still come along and play games exactly as you have always done,
I have arranged a series of events to entertain you, which you simply couldn't find at a Billabong, EuroGamesFest or Dockers session
We'd really appreciate you volunteering to run something special, different, which takes advantage of the numbers, presence of inter-state visitors, or duration of the Convention.

| Tess, creator of 'Not Tonight, Josephine' a game of historical & eclectic trivia, is visitng from Sydney to practice teaching her game (& expansion) prior to launching the expansion at Expo in Birmingham (UK) & Chicago (USA). I'm sure the wargamers would love to show off their knowledge of European (& other) history! Please make her welcome, & ensure she has an enjoyable & rewarding time. |
| Melissa Rogerson will be available to teach Agricola throughout those parts of the weekend her family duties allows her to attend! |
We are looking for suggestions of what you want from the next ConVic, AND what you can offer. Ideas suggested so far:
A double-blind Wargame. This means that the 2 opposing teams do not know where enemy units are positioned, nor their strength. Umpires inform the teams what their troops can see.
Offer 'Games Australia' a chance to run an event as part of the program.
If you know of games designers who are looking to showcase their games, please put them in touch with me
A suggestion box will be on the reception desk for your ideas & offers.

Multi-player Wargame (Max participants 6) Commands & Colors: Ancients allows you to re-fight epic battles of the ancient world using the popular card-driven movement system seen in games such as Memoir '44 and Battlecry.
Units in both armies can only move and fight when ordered by cards. Battle dice are used to resolve combat.
Zama 202BC Carthage is on the verge of defeat. Spain has been lost, Scipio has landed in Africa and beaten a large but inexperienced Carthaginian army at the Battle of the Great Plaines. Masinissa has taken his vaunted Numidian light hore over to the Roman side. Hannibal is recalled from Italy, and hurriedly builds an army around the veterans he has brought.
When the armies meet on the plains of Zama, Hannibal knows his cavalry on the flanks will be beaten, but stakes all on crushing the Roman centre with his elephants and infantry before the victorious Roman and Numidian cavalry return from pursuing the Carthaginian horses. Scipio, knowing he is outnumbered, masses his legions in the center and fully intends for Masinissa and the cavalry to complete the encirclement and win the battle. Attention anyone from outside Melbourne
There is a limited amount of accommodation available with gamers in Melbourne, who would like to welcome you to the Con.
If you wish to come & accommodation would've been a problem, please contact me. We are very keen indeed to encourage
all Australian Gamers to consider ConVic as the best way of meeting other Gamers & getting to know them. The atmosphere is always
fantastic & many spend the weekend trying to play with as many new people as possible. |
Attention Gamers from Melbourne
We would like more accommodation to be made available please in order to encourage people from other states to visit us.
If you have accommodation possibly available, please contact me.
Please also consider coming for the whole weekend rather than an hour or two. If it were interstate you would make sure you had the whole weekend.
If we really want Australian conventions to become like American & European ones, we need Gamers to support the Con for the whole weekend.
Commit to us & we will be able to do more to commit to you! |
Some information on previous ConVic weekends can be found here.

If you have a list of games played at ConVics 1 or 2, or pictures of any of the events, please let me know, & I will attempt to make this a better archive than it is at present.
If you are interested in gathering & maintaining the information on this archive page for me, please let me know, I'd be interested. I'd prefer someone who generally attends the whole weekend. |
